Sunburn

Yes, I know, not very likely just now. But if you’re going somewhere where there is sunshine, your skin will be totally unprepared for it. If you do get sunburned, there is plenty you can do.
Sunburned skin is hot, dry and inflamed, so it needs herbs that are cooling, soothing and moisturising. Aloe vera fits the bill on all counts. If you have access to the plant itself, simply break off a leaf, and healing gel will pour out of it. Use it directly on your skin, the more the better. Or incorporate it into a cream, water-based so that your skin can drink it in. Other herbs you could use include Marshmallow root (Althaea officinalis radix), Calendula officinalis flowers, or Comfrey leaf (Symphytum officinale folia). Add some hemp oil for extra anti-inflammatory action, and maybe a little lavender essential oil; the scent is calming when you are in pain.
